How are you all keeping up with the current social distancing /self - quarantine situation?. For most of you might be working from home and finding it difficult to achieve the productivity , I use to struggle to manage my time appropriately and categorize for everything in a daily routine and streamline all my things. But I had to build a step by step routine to achieve the best I could do in a day and not just zone out or get carried away leading to an unproductive in-turn an unsatisfying day. Here are the 5 simple steps I follow and I hope it will help you guys. 1. Wake Up like you Show Up. I wake up early in the morning even if I have to work from home like I have to show up at work. I finish my quick meditation and yoga 🧘♀️ in the morning and take bath. Dress up (Certain clothes can actually help us shift gears or mindsets or even help us prepare for certain activities. ) , eat my breakfast and start my day by checking my emails and the meeting notifications for the day , so that I can plan on finishing any action items I have in my plate for the day. 2.Set the Ambiance . Don’t keep it so cozy as if you are ready to doze off again or slip into your sheets. Make the ambiance right to work for the whole day. For me its the day light , lots of light that keeps me fresh and alive. I open up all the curtains and blinds to let the light in and make my space feel woken up. I never feel lazy around , when I do that and start working. 3. Take Breaks as needed. Don’t just sit there all day. Plan on getting a standing desk or just figure out a way to stand and work. I stand most of the time on the breakfast counter and work on my laptop. I take a walk on my deck for strict 10 minutes to get some fresh air every two hours. It just makes me feel like I am not stuck in the day. I keep a count on the number of steps and flights in my apple watch that I used to have on a regular work day when I commute , I make sure I achieve them all. 4. Plan Your Meals like You do for a regular work day. Do not plan to cook your lunch or dinner right in the middle of your work schedule , plan you meals beforehand , may be the night before. This will help you keep up with your consistency through out the day and not get distracted , Since cooking is definitely time consuming. 5. Set Boundaries and Log Off. One of the most important aspects of a healthy work-from-home routine is creating boundaries. Log off for the day—and not just from your laptop. Consider developing a phrase you say to yourself at the end of the day, to signal your mind that it’s time to stop thinking about work. Have a last-minute idea come up after office hours? Jot it down, but come back to it tomorrow. Just because you have access to work anytime doesn’t mean you should be logged in 24/7. Allow yourself to have downtime to create a work-life balance—we all need it, no matter where we are working. I always like your comments and insights on my blog posts. Keep posting them , I would love to hear back from you guys. Until the next blog post................
