It takes a pinch of motivation , a handful of enthusiasm and a little bit of practice to garnish your daily routine to make it more effective , productive and self satisfying. The problem here is that we feel bad for procrastinating things and we spend more and more time feeling bad about it , doing nothing to make it better. Today in this post I am going to break down my complete 24 hour routine into steps - about what I do different time windows spacing my time out for different pieces of work in a typical day. So lets get started.
1. 7 AM -9 AM. My Morning Rituals.
Now I am not going to lie to you guys. I could not incorporate getting up early for most of my time , because I am a night owl. But the day I sensed how better , fresh and active my brain works when woke up early , I took it up as a challenge to switch to a early morning routine.
Once I wake up , I make sure that I do not reach out for my phone. I go straight to restroom ,freshen up , take bath and head to kitchen to prepare some breakfast. And yet not reach to my phone. I enjoy my breakfast quite mindfully , feeling my portions in the spoon , the sound , the smell , the warmth of my food. Believe me your body will thank you for this. Then I open my balcony door and stand for at least 5 -6 minutes , breathe in that fresh air and get some sunlight. This has become a form of meditation for me.
2. 9 AM - 11:00 AM . Work space Bound.
I work from home sometimes and I travel sometimes as a part of my job. When I work from home , I make sure I am all ready and fresh as though I am heading to my work place and not lazying around without taking bath or finishing up my breakfast. This took sometime for me to break that habit of just waking up late and reaching to the laptop , starting my work without a proper start to my morning routine. Now that I fixed it , I make sure I am at my home desk by 9:00. I make sure there are no distractions like TV or Music for the next 2 hours, I start with the toughest in my to do list and finish up in the next 2 hours. At 11:00 AM , I take a break - may be a small brisk walk with music in my ears or a visit to my balcony. I prepare my meals mostly probably the night before , If not I use this break time to prepare or pick something for me. I also use up this break time to get my Instagram posting done or any blog publishing that is scheduled to go live. I am very strict with how much time I spend on Instagram making sure I do not get carried away with swiping across all the feed and doing nothing. I typically spend 30 minutes in a day on this platform , You can set a timer for that on Instagram to restrict over usage.
3. 1 :00 PM to 5:00 PM . Second chunk of My work and a Little brain storming.
This piece after the lunch is very tricky. A little fatigue like feel visits your body and I do not resist that , A small nap at my desk on the chair for about 15 minutes gives me the boost to push through and work productively for the next few hours. I finish up the next high priority tasks during this time and I take breaks in between and research about a new thing everyday. It feels confident to stay educated and well versed about different things you are curious about. For example I love different cultures , books and art. Then switch back just as quick as possible without getting carried away. I also brain storm about various blog post ideas during this time and note them in my journal and I finalize the designs and textile work for "Pastels and Pink" label very effectively during these mid day breaks. The concept here is , you take breaks to read or browse through something that you are curious or passionate about. Well I am all passionate about my blog and Label , hence I manage these breaks perfectly to get the work done. Wind up my regular job tasks by 5:00 or 5:30 PM.
4. 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Evenings that matter.
If I am travelling then this time block might vary , but otherwise the common mistake that we commit here is after we are done with work , in the name of rest we go back to deep sleep. Now this is a major break in your routine , If you ask me , do not do that. You job isn't done just because your regular work hours are done. When you are done with your work and you come back home , take sometime to sit , make yourselves some tea or coffee or any drink of your choice , watch something to feel different and take the work stress off of your shoulders mindfully. Engage with your family , prepare some dinner and eat your dinner mindfully , not by watching TV. This makes a whole lot of difference to your body , Feel the food. Finish off your dinner as early as you can at your convenience.
5. 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Golden Hour of Conversation.
This time window is really important to me. Do not become too busy that you do not have time to spend with your loved ones. It is very very important that you strike a balance between personal and professional life. I use up this time to talk about how my day was , asking how his day was and if we have things to be scheduled or taken care of , We both take a note of that . I have started to journal my things as well. If I have a situation I talk it out and take it off my chest , So that I go clean the next day. A good conversation is a best healer and helps you stay focused. And yes after that we can call it a night.
So typically this is what my day and routine looks like. But yes , It took me so much time to get there and sometimes even now I struggle to keep up. But I do not want to be another procrastinator , be the reason for my own things not working out. I want to stand high in my eyes with all due respect for self and feel achieved. Hence I do keep up with my routine most of the times.
The idea behind this "Blog Post" was a request from one of the followers/muse on Instagram and You guys know how much I love converting your requests into blog posts.

Fantastic article! I definitely think everyone should have a daily routine to achieve the most and to have a certain amount of structure. I certainly love the “Golden Hour of conversation” as well. I think for some of us, especially the entrepreneur-minded, we tend to focus heavily on work and not enough on social relationships and just enjoying life so it’s refreshing to see that in here! Love your content!
